Iceland is Cool in Summer. Volcanoes & Glaciers Coach Tour from Reykjavik Iceland
Iceland is Cool in Summer
A journey through from Reykjavik through a country of natural beauty that includes majestic waterfalls, impressive lava flows, huge glaciers, a volcanic crater, gushing hot springs, a folk museum and the opportunity to see seals and puffins close up.
Most people know Iceland as an island of stunning natural beauty… and Bjork. Get to know more on this 6-day coach trip through the country’s south staying in 3 and 4 star accommodations.
Departing Reykjavik, journey past glacial rivers to Skogafoss waterfall. You’ll also visit a farm at the foot of Eyjafjallajokull volcano. If you can’t pronounce it, don’t worry. We’re sure travellers christened it with many much more pronounceable (if unprintable) ‘names’ when it erupted in 2010, grounding planes across Europe!
Eyjafjallajokull is the centerpiece to some truly magical country that includes Solheimajokull Glacier, Reynisdrangar Cliffs and the black volcanic sands of Reynifjara beach. Explore Skaftafell National Park and visit Jokulsarlon, a glacial lake that lures visitors, photographers, and film crews from across the world (Bond fans, take note).
Visit the puffins of the Westman Islands, a 30 minute ferry ride away from the mainland. The Islands’ remarkably fresh lava fields have given life to a range of new plants and offer some spectacular hiking. Your final full day is devoted to Iceland’s classic ‘Golden Circle’ sights, including the 50 foot high Strokkur Geysir, Gullfoss Falls and Thingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s ancient parliament met on the shores of its largest lake.
Spend your last night in Reykjavik prior to departure
You will visit the following 2 places:
Reykjavik
Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It has a latitude of 64°08' N, making it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state, and is a popular tourist destination. It is the heart of Icelands's cultural, economic and governmental activity. The city itself is spread out, with sprawling suburbs. The city centre, however, is a very small area characterized by eclectic and colourful houses, with good shopping, dining, and drinking.
Iceland
Iceland, a mountainous Nordic island nation, is located between Europe and North America. It is a stunningly beautiful place if you enjoy strange and desolate landscapes. It's vibrant capital, Reykjavik, is relaxed and welcoming, yet possesses a cultural life that holds its own against other European capitals. Many of the country’s most popular sights are within easy reach of Reykjavík. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Iceland, at the Blue Lagoon. Then spend a day or two in The Golden Circle, an area which encompasses three of Iceland’s greatest natural wonders; Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Field, and Gullfoss!
