Silversea Cruises will turn the ship that launched its fleet into an expedition ship in a rebuilding that will include adding a new ice-strengthened hull.
The all-suite Silver Cloud will get an extensive refit starting in August, 2017 and become part of Silversea’s expedition fleet, destined mainly for polar waters.
The changes will reduce the current capacity of 296 guests to 260 and the ship will carry no more than 200 in Arctic and Antarctic itineraries, which are in high demand, Silversea says.
Silversea To Welcome Guests Regardless Of Vaccination Status
Silversea Cruises is poised to welcome back all travellers aboard its fleet with adjusted COVID-19 protocols that it says align closely with many land-based travel options. Effective September 5, Silversea Cruises will welcome all guests on board its ships regardless of vaccination status where local regulations allow.
The line has also adjusted its COVID-19 testing requirements. Where local regulations allow, vaccinated travellers will not be required to take a COVID-19 test prior to embarkation. Unvaccinated travellers may sail aboard Silversea ships by providing proof of a negative COVID-19 antigen or PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to embarkation.
Testing and vaccination requirements may differ for select destinations based on local regulations, including but not limited to Canada, Australia and Greece. Where tests are required, all guests must provide proof of a negative test result (printed or digital) at embarkation and should travel with a copy of their test result.
