“Cuban Experience”
Older resort, (just like us),good service, happy we went as this was our first trip to Cuba.
The strong points Good location on the beach, staff very helpful & friendly. The weak points Like most beach resorts the practice of reserving beach chairs by placing a item on the chair then leaving for a unlimited time is rude to the other guests at the resort.

“Tryp Cayo Coco trip”
The hotel didn't have my reservation when I got there, and though the package I bought said I would be getting an ocean view suite, they didn't have suites. Other than that the hotel was fantastic and I will be going back. The room should just not be advertised as a suite.
The strong points Friendly staff, beautiful beaches, lots of activities and entertainment The weak points No suites, limited Internet access

“Tryp - April 2015”
Just came back from our visit to Tryp. Very nice resort. Beach is awesome, staff is great and the resort and rooms are very clean. Food was very good! Only complaint would be the dated rooms but they were clean which is what really matters. Would go back! Disappointed in the snorkeling as reviews said it was great off the beach. Seen some fish but not a huge variety. And it was quite windy the week we were there but of course that's out of our control. No mosquitoes or sandflies at the time when we went. Location is great as it's only 10 to 15 minutes from the airport. Also, lots of chairs - no chair cops:)
The strong points Food, staff and beach! The weak points Dated rooms, internet

“Trip to Tryp”
Staff was excellent, food for the most part was very good, loved the spanish coffee from the bar. Entertainment was average with the exception of the "water ballet", they were spectacular. Older resort in need of TLC and upgrades. Loved the location and the beach. Enjoyed the snorkeling excursion. Would recommend Cayo Coco to others.
The strong points Area, beaches, staff, buffet breakfast, lunch and supper had a variety of great food. The weak points Restaurant in the main building.

“Very dangerous pool area”
I have already contacted my travel agent regarding this. I took a hard fall in the main pool at the drop-off point which is very dangerous. I have seriously hurt my hip and have extensive bruising from my lower back to my left calf. During my stay I witnessed another person sprain their wrist by falling in the same spot, and another woman broke her shoulder slipping on the pool deck. I watched many others fall during my stay. My travel agent will be contacting both Sunwing and the resort regarding this. My agent was fantastic in helping us book and before and after for service. Had I not been hurt during my stay I would have given the hotel an 'as expected rating'.
The strong points Beach and the staff. The weak points Pool area is very dangerous. Slippery, and poorly designed drop-off that caused numerous people to fall during the week.

“Disappointing”
The hotel was very disappointing, the front desk was not all that friendly and not very willing to accommodate us or fix problems. Our room was dated and smelled of mildew, and our air conditioner did not work well. We told guest services and someone came and told us to keep the patio door closed and the air conditioner would work, however, we needed to keep the door open so it didn't smell too bad and there was some air flow, otherwise very stuffy. After 2 more day we noticed a sewage smell coming from the bathroom, thought it would go away but it did not. Went to front desk and they would not give us a better room unless we upgraded to an ocean view, which we did because of the sewage smell. Room was no different except for a view of the ocean through two palm trees and the room had a digital safe instead of a key entry safe. Air conditioner needed to be looked at in this room as well, as no air was actually coming out, someone did come and look at it and it did work better then our other room. No sewage smell! The beach and pool area however were fantastic, lots of beach chairs to sit on in both areas, very clean and well taken care of. Beach groomed everyday. Foods was decent, the a la carts were good too. We always found something to eat! Front desk was just kinda cranky at times. the resort also had s hot water issue at the time, and a large portion of the resort did not have hot water, we did in our second room, not our first. We still had a good trip, the sun was shining, the alcohol was good, we met some great people. The rooms were the most disappointing.
The strong points Beach, Pools, Swim up bar, Sun, Alcohol, Many bars, 24hr snack bar, Party resort The weak points Hotel needs some TLC, very dated and worn out, rooms dated and AC was questionable, some front desk staff cranky

“Tryp Cayo Coco Jan 9 - 16 2015”
For the money a great hotel to stay at. Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Lovely beach which was cleared of seaweed every morning in an effort to make it clean and comfortable. BEWARE...Sand Flies. Living in Muskoka, my wife and I are used to bugs but for anyone else be warned. They are small and a damn nuisance but still not as bad as the blackflies and the good old trusty mosquito we have in cottage country. Anyone thinking of getting married while you are there then go for it. Gorge, the wedding planner, is very good and completely dedicated to making everything you want happen and as perfectly as you would want your special day to be. We watched a wedding service for one couple and were very impressed. Even very difficult types of flower and colour were obtained to make the couple's wedding complete to their needs. This group was 70 strong and went flawlessly from what we could see. Pools were clean with plenty of sun loungers available here as well as the beach. For Cuba, there was a very good selection of food to eat. The various restaurants were very good. I was particularly impressed with the Chinese, Italian and International ones. The Buffet was VERY good no matter what meal you were having there. You could even have fries at Breakfast. Who can ask for more?? :) OK so the place could do with some work but money is short and resources limited. For what they have it is on a par with hotels in the Mediterranean countries. I have stayed in worse with more stars. If you want value for money do take the "Jeep On" trip. It is a full day and a great way to see the Cuban countryside. It includes the boat trip as well as a visit to a Crocodile farm and the city of Moron. Moron was not a highlight for me but some enjoyed it. The drive up to the highest point on this part of the island is enjoyable and the view spectacular. The lunch, included in the trip was very good. This trip started at 7:00 am and we got back to the resort almost 12 hours later. Worth every penny. So would we go back again? Absolutely. We enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to anyone who wants great value for money and the chance to relax and recharge the batteries while avoiding the snow and sub zero temperatures.
The strong points Very friendly and helpful staff. Guest Services staff were outstanding. The food was good with options for all tastes. The beach was cleared every morning to keep it clean and pleasant looking. The weak points 220V supply only in this resort. Maintenance is needed but nothing so bad I would cry about it.
