Toronto
Situated on the northern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is one of the southernmost cities in Canada. In fact, it has nearly the same latitude as northern California. Home to more than 100 cultures, and Canada's largest city, with a population of 4.7 million, it is also the fifth-largest city in North America, after Mexico City, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. It is also the theatre capital of Canada, with hundreds of plays - from the big Mirvish productions down to the smaller theatres - on stage at any one time. In fact, the highly anticipated Lord of the Rings stage production made its international debut in Toronto earlier this year. In terms of attractions, the options are practically endless. Check out the CN Tower, the Toronto Zoo, Paramount Canada's Wonderland theme park, bustling Chinatown, the boutique-laden Queen Street West area, catch a concert or hockey game at the Air Canada Centre, visit the quaint little Toronto Islands just a short ferry ride away, and then there is the vast selection of restaurants - French, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Mexican, Japanese, Vietnamese, Moroccan, Thai, Indian - whatever country's culinary delights you are looking for, you'll find it in Toronto.
