Day 1 Bucharest
Welcome to Romania!

Our guide will pick you up from the airport and embark you on a route to the fascinating city of Bucharest. The capital of Romania is famous for being one of the cities that never sleeps. Once known as “Little Paris”, due to its beautiful architecture and tumultuous lifestyle, Bucharest’s soul still has so many untold stories waiting for you to explore them.

After checking in a 4 star hotel in the city center, we will take a walk through the city and you will understand why Bucharest used to be called “Little Paris”. Together with the guide you will discover the most delightful architectural landmarks of Bucharest. This one-hour walking tour ends with a well-deserved sampling of Romanian cuisine, well known for its diversity and heartiness. Our recommendation is the Beer Cart (Caru’cu bere), one of the most famous places to eat out in the "old city center", a restaurant situated in a wonderful building, an outstanding architectural piece in itself. The atmosphere of this old beer hall makes for a fine introduction to the traditional Romanian experience. Return to the hotel.

Accommodation: Hotel in Bucharest for 2 nights

Day 2 Bucharest (B)

Breakfast will be served at the hotel you stay.

After breakfast, we will visit the Parliament Palace, a communist legacy and the second biggest building in the world (the first place is the Pentagon). It is also the most expensive administrative building and heaviest building. It measures 270 m by 240 m, 86 m high, and 92 m underground. It has 1,100 rooms and is 12 stories tall, with additional 8 underground levels. A colossal parliament building known for its ornate interior, it houses the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, three museums and an international conference center.

In the afternoon we head to the northern part of Bucharest to discover another symbol of Bucharest, the Village Museum an open-air ethnographic museum located in the Herăstrău Park, showcasing traditional Romanian village life in 272 authentic peasant farms and houses from all over Romania.

By now, you will have already had a taste of the city’s lifestyle. Next, you are going to explore it even further as we take a nice stroll on the narrow streets of the historic heart of Bucharest: the vibrant new "old city center". Scattered among the many new-sprung pubs, bars and restaurants, you will discover a number of heritage monuments. For dinner, we go to the Manuc’s Inn, an authentic 19th century guesthouse, in the very heart of Bucharest, where Romanian traditional music will offer you an authentic romantic night. After dinner return to the hotel.

Day 3 Bucharest – Brasov (B)

Leave Bucharest and heading to the Peleș Castle, the old residence of the Royal family. Throughout history, Peleș Castle hosted some important personalities, from royalties and politicians to artists. One of the most memorable visits was that of Kaiser Franz Joseph I of Austro-Hungary in 1896. In recent times, many foreign leaders such as Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford spent time in the castle. The architectural style of the Peleș Castle is a Romantic blend of German Neo-Renaissance and Gothic Revival, similar to Schloss Neuschwanstein in Bavaria.

Next stop is to Bran Castle, commonly known as "Dracula's Castle". Situated near Bran village and in the immediate vicinity of Braşov city, the castle is a national monument and landmark in Romania. The castle, marketed as the home of the titular character in Bram Stoker's Dracula, is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. Not far away from Bran Castle, we have lunch at one of the many pensions in the Rucar – Bran area, which provides some of the most spectacular natural views in Romania, looking over the Carpathian Mountains.

After a half-hour drive from the Bran Castle, we will discover Brasov, known as Kronstadt in German. Located almost in the center of the country and surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, the city provides a mix of wonderful mountain views from the nearby resort of Poiana Brasov and medieval history with German influences from the old town.

After this, check in a hotel located only 5 minutes away from the city, in the mountain area, entirely surrounded by nature. After checking in, you will have dinner outside, on the hotel's superb and panoramic terrace.

Accommodation: Hotel in Brasov for 1 night

Day 4 Brasov – Sibiu (B)

Following breakfast, the tour of Transylvania continues with two UNESCO Heritage Sites. First, documentary testimony dates from 1283, is the fortified church of Biertan, an imposing medieval monument blessed with the looks of a castle. The fortified church is located in a village, gifted with beautiful houses built centuries ago, bordered by vineyards, maize fields, and forests.

Not far away from Biertan, rise the citadel of Sighisoara, one more UNESCO Heritage Site, considered to be the most beautiful and well preserved inhabited citadel in Europe and one of the only few fortified towns in the world still inhabited. For two hours we will make sure you have a medieval experience as we provide a guided walking tour, followed by lunch and free time to wander around the narrow streets of the citadel on your own. The landmark of the city is the Clock Tower, a 64-meter high tower built in the 13th century. Other interesting sights are: The Church on the Hill, the Covered Staircase, and the Dominican monastery.

The basecamp for our fourth day in Transylvania is the former European Capital of Culture in 2007. Former center of the Transylvanian Saxon community, the old city of Sibiu was ranked by Forbes as Europe's 8th most idyllic places to live in. After checking in, go out for dinner and visit the most important sights of the city: Grand Square (15th century), Little Square, Brukenthal Palace (1787), Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral (1520), Sibiu Orthodox Cathedral (1904), Liar’s Bridge, the Passage of Stairs.

Accommodation: Hotel in Sibiu for 1 night

Day 5 – 7 Poiana Brasov Mountain (B, L, D)

It is located at about 1,020 meters (3,379 feet) above sea level near the city of Brașov and it is easily accessible by road. There are regular buses operated by Brașov Transit which serve the 12 km route between Brașov and Poiana Brașov. Poiana Brașov is surrounded by four mountains: the already mentioned Postăvaru (1,799 m), Piatra Craiului (2,238 m), Bucegi (2,505 m) and Piatra Mare (1,848 m).
