ROMANCE AND LOTS MORE
The former El Dorado Seaside Suites, is now Sensimar Seaside Suites and is exclusive to Sunwing. Next door is a new build El Dorado Seaside Suites. I know it is quite confusing, but it means more bars and restaurants for you to enjoy.

Surrounded by a lush landscape, the newly expanded Sensimar Seaside Suites offers the perfect blend of understated luxury with a focus on health and wellness in the heart of the Riviera Maya. Designed with couples in mind, guests can take advantage of a selection of signature experiences as part of their stay, such as unwinding with a hydrotherapy treatment at the Náay Spa, the biggest in the Mayan. There is a full treatment menu for Spa Connoisseurs, and for brides, a fabulous room for them to dress. I’ve never seen anything like it. This Spa is very special. Other special little touches include beach butlers, concierge, turndown, 24-hour room service, complimentary Wi-Fi and international long-distance calls. The international long-distance calls are a big hit with guests, and as you know they expect complimentary Wi-Fi.
It’s romantic - very romantic - a great spot for couples wanting to reconnect. It attracts British guests, who come and lounge – usually for two weeks, and then come again the following season. Asked why, the response was often, “It reminds us of the old Caribbean, informal, with lots of room to be private, and a choice of different accommodation.” The resort is on the secluded beach of Kantenah, in the Mayan Riviera, 80 minutes from the airport. The meditative yoga is a big hit, as are the non-motorized water sports. Just off shore after-all is the second-largest coral reef in the world, so snorkelling is a really popular option, and scuba as well. Deep-sea fishing is also available. If tennis doesn’t beckon, there is a complete fitness centre to keep your client’s fitness up to snuff. There are also aqua aerobics.
The grounds are lovely, walkways wind through the palm trees and flowers, and are lined with coconuts fallen from the trees. It is a resort tradition that guests paint a coconut and leave it beside the path. It makes for interesting reading while you stroll. Mini walls are made from coral that has washed up on the beach. The hotel describes it's food as gourmet – and Sunwing Vacations considers it a “ Gourmet inclusive resort.” that it is!!
The Adults Collection resort stands out for its high class culinary experiences including à la carte dining at the Culinarium along with full exchange privileges at three additional restaurants and four bars in the neighbouring El Dorado Seaside Suites. Guests are also be able to enjoy Karisma's Gourmet Inclusive experience, which includes cooking lessons made with seasonal ingredients from the resort's greenhouses together with wine tasting sessions, premium beverages and discounts on gourmet spa services. “The food was amazing,” said some happy guests.
For breakfast we went to the buffet most the time. A large selection and more relaxed. For lunch, we went to the beach BBQ, the Sandwicherie and Arrecifes. They are all great and you can eat as much or little as you want. The magic however are the restaurants for dinner. Our favourite was the Italian, Mia Casa - their best dish was the fillet steak with gorgonzola sauce. Amazing! The Gourmet Pub was a pleasant surprise - their Ox Tail stew with truffle mash was really good. The Mexican restaurant was good too, traditional Mexican food (not old El Paso!) and it was great to taste traditional food rather than commercialised food you buy from supermarkets! However, I have read a few reviews where people have moaned about the Mexican not being like they have at home...you can’t please everyone!
For serious shopping excursions Playa del Carmen is 25 minutes away, and if your clients are looking for “chukkas” to take home, there is plenty of choice here. The only Mayan Seaport, Tulum, is close by, for a chance to explore Mayan ruins. Guests love the cleanliness of the resort and adore the service. They do complain that they’d like more loungers, the old game of setting the alarm early goes on here. Yes, like many many other beaches the seaweed is a problem, but staff are cleaning like crazy. Other guests suggest you advise your clients to take beach shoes. Signature Vacations has an exclusive on the new El Dorado Seaside Suites, a beachfront property that looks stunning. It wasn’t open when we were there in March. Next time.
