1. Christmas markets with a charming atmosphere
The Christmas markets in Prague are among the best known in Europe. Old Town and Havel Square in Old Town, Wenceslas Square and Republic Square, Peace Square and the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds – these are the places where Prague celebrates Advent and Christmas. Let yourself be drawn into tradition, a rich cultural program, glittering atmosphere and typical Christmas gastronomic specialties. The markets consist of brightly decorated wooden huts selling traditional handicrafts: glassware, jewelry, embroidered lace, wooden toys, metalware, ceramics, scented candles, Christmas tree ornaments, hats, gloves and scarves, and puppets and dolls beautifully dressed in traditional costumes. And if you want to enjoy the best moment, come to Old Town Square on Saturday, November 29th, when the large Christmas tree will be lit for the first time!
2. Luxury in Parizska Street
There would hardly be a place in Prague with a higher concentration of luxurious shops than here. Parizska Street lined on both sides with mainly Art Nouveau houses built on the 19th century offer the works of the best Czech designers, Czech glass, jewelry as well as the world’s top fashion brands.
3. Pavilon
Pavilon, one of the most important Prague industrial landmarks, offers the original concept of shopping and exhibition gallery of modern living. You can find here design furniture, lighting, accessories and many more. There is also a special shop, Modernista, offering original Czech design of the 20th century.

5. Hand-made marionettes
Traditionally hand-carved from wood, plaster as well as antique marionettes can be purchased in the centers of large Czech and Moravian towns, but it is well worth visiting the traditional Prague studios. Original and rare items can be discovered for instance in Nerudova Street in Prague or a workshop producing hand-made fairy-tale marionettes near Vysehrad in Lumirova Street.
