“Great holiday but room for improvement”
We had a great holiday! The hotel is new, clean and the staff work hard. We gave out the most of the drinks that were in our mini bar to the gardeners since they work hard in such heat. They were so grateful. This is a 4* so don't expect 5. FOOD: there's always something to eat. This is Cuba so don't expect gourmet. ROOMS: decent size, clean but beds are hard and they use double pillows as opposed to individual standard size so when 2 people share a double bed, it's a shared pillow. BEACH: beautiful but yes rocky. If you want soft sand and no coral don't go. We all brought water shoes and my kids loved the snorkelling and seeing the fish. It's sandy to the right, left and a little bit out. The kids also loved climbing the tepees in the water. I could go on forever but overall it's a nice resort. Huge. But there are shuttle busses that come around. They really need more lighting on the walkways at night and if it rains it's very slippery. I read about the Mosquitos and brought repellent but they are worse than I thought. Between 7-8:30 pm they are bad so make that your dinner time. I don't know how they will manage at full capacity so go now cuz once full, we don't think they'll be able to manage.
The strong points Staff, pool, beach, only an hour from Pilar beach The weak points Lineups for food, food, not well lit at night

“Sell off vacations”
Horrible!!! If you are looking to go to a resort and not to be able to eat anything to find tooth peek in your food not to get service from anyone, visit a beach full of rocks and sleep with bed bugs this is the perfect place for you!!!!
The strong points weather The weak points The entire Hotel

“Great trip!”
This place is great. Would go back. Food was good. Room was nice. The beds were hard. Be careful when it rains, pathways get very slippery. Also hallways in the lobby etc get slippery. Kids club was great, although they need to put slip mats on ground for the kids. My son left kids pool and went into the club and fell. Beach is beautiful but rocky. We just went down to the left and it was pure white sand. Staff is great. Awesome pool.
The strong points Great resort. The weak points Beds, slippery grounds and walkways

“Good but not the greatest for a five star”
The hotel was under construction which we were not informed of at the time of booking. The resort is brand new and only half of the resort was open, which ironicly was a good thing, as it's a large resort. Due to construction by the beach ex bulldozers, noise, we were not able to enjoy the peace and quiet, beach front very narrow but clean. We spent a lot of time at the pool side due to the ocean front being full of rock and coral. Staff at resort very friendly and no one bugged for tips. Food was really good. Pool side activities were fun and entertaining.
The strong points Clean, friendly family atmosphere The weak points Really dissapointed with the beach front and construction noise and odour

“Slightly disappointed”
We were slightly disappointed with the Melia resort as we were expecting for it to be as good as the Melia Las Dunas but it is not there yet. Perhaps in a few years once the grounds and staff have had more time to prepare.
The strong points Pool, most of the staff The weak points Food, rocky entrance to ocean, bad smell from Lagoon

“Cayo Coco, Cuba”
Overall a decent hotel. Not sure I would rate it a 5* by any standards. They have some work to do to get to the 5* status. The hotel is clean and food okay. The beach is gorgeous and you can walk for about an hour in either direction. Staff were happy and spoke decent English and were always willing to help.
The strong points Only a half hour ride from the airport. Beach water are gorgeous The weak points Have to make an appointment to book the ala cartes

Très bel hôtel, le personnel est très accueillant et surtout souriant, c'est la première fois que je peux dire que la nourriture était bonne a Cuba
The strong points Je le recommande The weak points Les chaises sur la plage sont moins confortable que celles a la piscine
