Holland America’s Maasdam has been calling to Charlottetown longer than any other cruise ship. She will be replaced with calls from Veendam (a regular visitor) and the newly renovated Zuiderdam and Rotterdam.

The ships that will be arriving in the PEI port will carry the same number of passengers or more. Corryn Morrissey, business development manager for the Charlottetown Harbour Authority said "We were sad to see the Maasdam go. She's called us longer than anyone. "I think we'll see her again in our future."
• Daily wellness
Silversea is partnering with Technogym to provide passengers complimentary stretching, yoga, and Pilates classes either on board or ashore, all part of The Wellness Expedition Voyages on Silver Discoverer for 2016 and 2017. There will also be classes in the ship's swimming pool plus gym sessions led by personal trainers using state-of-the-art Technogym fitness equipment.
• Passenger hospitalized
The Coast Guard in Portsmouth, Virginia says the Norwegian Breakaway was 370 km (230 miles) east of Cape Hatteras when it reported a 61-year-old woman was found unconscious. A Coast Guard helicopter from Elizabeth City took the woman to Sentra Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, around 6 p.m. Monday. Her name has not been released, but she has been reported in stable condition.
• Guest dies on excursion
A passenger from the Carnival Glory died while the ship was calling at St Kitts on January 31. Passengers on the beach are said to have applied CPR as they waited 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive. It is reported that the guest who had been on a Snuba shore excursion was dead by the time the paramedics arrived.
• Another cancellation to Turkey
MSC Cruises is the latest line to cancel calls to Turkey as a result of the recent bomb explosion in Istanbul. The MSC Magnifica, will be based in Venice beginning March 23rd when Mediterranean cruise season begins. Calls in Istanbul and Izmir beginning on March 29, 2016 will be replaced by calls in the Greek capital, Athens, and the island of Mykonos.
• Gastro infection spread
Over 150 passengers on The Diamond Princess were suffering from a gastro infection when the ship pulled into Sydney this week after a 12 day trip around New Zealand. It is believed that the infection spread in part because some travellers neglected to report being sick. Ill passengers were warned to stay in their rooms and were treated by onboard medical staff. No one required hospitalization. The ship is undergoing increased sanitation and the pool was drained as a precaution.
• Ocean views
Scenic is the second river cruise company to announce that it will enter the ocean cruise market with the launch of the 228-passenger luxury yacht Scenic Eclipse in 2018. Scenic's move follows that of Viking River, which entered the ocean arena last year with the launch of Viking Star.
Holland America Is Bringing Back the ‘Rotterdam’ Name
The line announced that its newest ship, which was set to come into service under the name Ryndam, will now be called Rotterdam.
