Charlottetown The city of Charlottetown, capital of Prince Edward Island, has a fascinating history. This is where small group of elected officials gathered back in 1864 to discuss uniting three Maritime jurisdictions, which ultimately led to the founding of Canada. A walk through downtown is like stepping back in time. Or venture out onto the many scenic heritage red-clay roads and visit the many museums and historical sites. One of the island's most famous daughters - Lucy Maud Montgomery, who penned the famous Anne of Green Gables - is present in Charlottetown and beyond. There are also many parks, and riverside green space, along with lots of activities and sports to keep anybody busy (and happy).
