Cool off at some of the best pools in Hong Kong
If you are a great swimmer and love cooling off in the pool, Hong Kong is undoubtedly the best destination for you. The city boasts of many picturesque pools that are definitely worth trying out. An array of water parks, a natural infinity pond on a mountainside, and the world’s highest pool are some of the coolest places in the city where you can relax and rejuvenate. The city has mainly three types of pools. These include public pools, natural pools and hotel pools. Let us explore some of the exciting pools that the city has to offer. Public pools The famous public pools in Hong Kong are found in Kennedy Town, Kowloon Park and Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park. The seaside Kennedy Town Swimming Pool is simply wonderful. A popular architecture firm designed this pool. It is a triangular shaped complex with a curved roof opening toward the harbour. The complex has a standard pool and a kiddie pool with small water playground. The pool is closed to public on Wednesdays. Kowloon Park is home to four pools and artificial waterfalls. One indoor and one outdoor for swimming, while the other two are for diving and training. The main pool is Olympic-sized. The diving pool is of 21 meters and has four diving platforms and seven springboards. The training pool is open on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays, and is exclusively reserved for the disabled, the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases. The Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool has a basic infrastructure and unassuming facade. There are two pools here – a standard 50-meter pool and a smaller pool for swimming lessons. Natural pools There are some amazing natural pools in Hong Kong. The breathtaking Man Cheung Po infinity pool is a great favorite among the locals and has the best picnic spot. It was formed “naturally” when a dam was built in a gorge with a waterfall. The hike to the pool at Man Cheung Po (or 10,000 Feet Waterfall) offers picturesque views of mountaintops and the sea in the distance. Bride’s Pool near Tai Mei Tuk in the New Territories is wonderful. It is a series of crystal clear pools and waterfalls, which is accessed by the visitors by hiking the scenic, kid-friendly Bride's Pool Nature Trail. The Ng Tung Waterfalls is situated in Tai Mo Shan Country Park. It comprises of four picturesque falls – Main Fall, Bottom Fall, Middle Fall and Scatter Fall. A visit to the Main Fall brings you to Hong Kong’s highest waterfall. Hotel pools There are some great pools located within famous hotels in Hong Kong. Famous hotels such as The Ritz-Carlton, W Hotel Hong Kong, Hotel Indigo and Four Seasons Hotel are home to the best pools in the city. The pool at the Ritz-Carlton is situated on the 118th floor at 484 meters above the street in Hong Kong’s tallest building. It is also the highest swimming pool in the world. The swimming pool at W Hotel is located on the 78th floor. It is also the highest rooftop pool in Hong Kong.
