New baggage policy for Haiti and Cuba

Air Transat is modifying its checked baggage policy for all bookings to Haiti and Cuba made as of April 3, 2018. Haiti For Haiti, passengers who book a flight in Eco Promo, Eco or Eco Extra or a package in Economy Class as of April 3 will now be allowed one free piece of checked baggage of 25 kg, instead of two. We are continuing to offer baggage allowance at no additional cost to accommodate the large number of travellers visiting family and friends. Passengers who book Eco Max, Option Plus or Club Class will be allowed two pieces of baggage at no charge. Here’s a summary of the baggage allowance and fees applicable to bookings made as of April 3, with notable changes in grey:

Passengers who book Option Plus will be allowed an additional piece of checked baggage, for a maximum of two pieces. Cuba Air Transat is extending its current checked baggage policy for the South and the United States to include Cuba. That means that passengers who book a flight in Eco Promo or Eco as of April 3 will now have to pay $25 for their first piece of checked baggage of 23 kg. Passengers who book a package in Economy Class or a flight in Eco Extra will still be allowed one piece of baggage. They will be allowed an additional piece, for a maximum of two pieces, if they book Option Plus. And passengers who book Eco Max or Club Class will be allowed two pieces of baggage.

Passengers who book Option Plus will be allowed an additional piece of checked baggage, for a maximum of two pieces. Prepayment of baggage We strongly recommend that passengers prepay for their bags up to 24 hours before departure. Good to know Flights only: Eco Max is Air Transat’s maximum flexibility rate, offering passengers in Economy Class plenty of extras, such as an additional piece of checked baggage and priority airport services. Cuba is ranked high in human development by the United Nations, and performs well in health and education. In 2015, it became the first country to eradicate mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis, a milestone hailed by the World Health Organization as "one of the greatest public health achievements possible".

Varadero is a resort town in the province of Matanzas, Cuba, and one of the largest resort areas in the Caribbean. The place was first used as a dry dock and the salt mines of the peninsula (closed in 1961) supplied most of the Spanish Latin America Fleet since 1587. However, the foundation date of Varadero as city was only on December 5, 1887, when ten families from the city of Cárdenas obtained a permission to build their vacation homes between today's 42nd and 48th Street. Varadero is foremost a tourist resort town, boasting more than 20 km of white sandy beaches. The first tourists visited Varadero as early as the 1870s, and for years it was considered an elite resort. In 1910 the annual rowing regatta was started; five years later the first hotel, named Varadero and later Club Nautico, was built. Tourism grew in the early 1930s as Irénée du Pont, an American millionaire, built his estate on the peninsula. Many famous and infamous people stayed in Varadero, for example Al Capone.

Havana, officially Ciudad de La Habana, is the capital city, major port, and leading commercial centre of Cuba. The city is one of the 15 Cuban provinces. The city/province has 2.1 million inhabitants, the largest city in Cuba and the second largest in the Caribbean region, after Santo Domingo. The city extends mostly westward and southward from the bay, which is entered through a narrow inlet and which divides into three main harbours: Marimelena, Guanabacoa, and Atarés. The sluggish Almendares River traverses the city from south to north, entering the Straits of Florida a few miles west of the bay.

Cayo Coco is an island in the Jardines del Rey chain off the north coast of Ciego de Avila province in Cuba. Cayo Coco is very relaxing and is the perfect place to go to if you want to do close to nothing for your vacation. You will find a few resorts, a spa, an international clinic (hospital), a night club (the Bat Cave) and an airport. In other words, there is not much to do or to visit there but sometimes all you need for your vacation is a little calm and quiet, and you will find that in Cayo Coco.
