AIR TRANSAT CHANGES MENU ON TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
Air Transat is changing the economy-class menu on its transatlantic flights. Starting April 1, the new Euro Bistro menu will be featuring a varied menu of fresh, healthy options available free of charge to Economy Class passengers.
Instead of frozen meals reheated on board its aircraft - the airline's long-standing practice - passengers will be offered fresh options made the same day, said the airline's marketing director Debbie Cabana.“This is a major difference,” she said, adding that the response from passengers during early tests has been “very positive.”The choices on the new Euro Bistro menu, available starting April 1, will include four hot sandwiches (pulled beef; ham and melted brie; grilled vegetables; and smoked meat), a chicken wrap and vegetarian maki sushi. The options are included in the airfare. The airline is making the switch after consulting with thousands of passengers over the past two years to better understand their meal expectations, Air Transat general manager Jean-Francois Lemay said in a statement.Air Transat flies to 28 European destinations, most of them during the peak summer travel season. It is launching a new route from Toronto to Zagreb, Croatia, on June 14.Bar service and breakfast or a snack will continue to be provided on transatlantic flights. The meal offer remains unchanged for Club Class passengers. On Air Transat flights between Canada and Sun destinations, affordably priced meals and snacks will still be available.
